Now passengers arriving at Helsinki-Vantaa must to remove laptops from their cases and to place them separately from other hand luggage on the belt for screening. Also overcoats, jackets, coats, cell phones and all other hand luggage must be placed on the belt for screening. But cell phones may be in a coat pocket or in the hand luggage. Otherwise the procedure is the same as earlier. Once they have placed their belongings on the belt for screening, passengers pass through the metal detector before collecting their belongings from the belt. So, the new procedure may slow down customer service and security check waiting times may be longer than normal during the morning and evening rush hours. And the screening of hand luggage is being tightened in compliance with an EU regulation.
