The health center and social services of the city of Helsinki, Finland, are starting a one-year development project for medication dispensing logistics. It includes a company consortium headed by telecom group Elisa. The target group consists of people who live at home or in assisted living circumstances. The service system is made of a medicine dispenser with a reminder and supporting software. The phone call reminds user about forgotten medication. The system alerts a health visitor to check on the situation in case the person still does not take the medication. The 400 people will be chosen to participate in the project. In the project involved such organizations, as the city of Helsinki health and social services, IBM, Elisa, Addoz, Medixine, and 6 pharmacies.
